Nita B’s is a modern day take on old soul. Our mission is to make every meal a healthy plate with great taste. We pledge to shop locally and organically as possible to make southern soul classics good for the body, the soul, and the community. We offer general meals, meal prep services, no-contact delivery, advanced ordering, and catering all hosted online to make it easier for you to get your soul food fix. In an age of food scarcity when food scarcity is an issue and what little is available is unhealthy, Nita B’s fills the void with healthy alternative that’ll make your heart smile. Other than hot plates, Nita B’s has a focus on the providing the children and senior citizens of DFW with low-no cost meals. What makes us unique is we’re heavy on heritage. The owner and head chef is a black woman who is the FIRST black woman in her family to own a catering business. Every recipe on the menu has been passed down from her grandmother & mother. Being a grandmother herself, she’s passing the love and the plate on to her community.
WHO IS NITA B?
Nita B’s Soul Food & Catering is owned by Dallas native, Bernita 'Nita' Board. 8 years ago, Bernita started this business out of a love of cooking and enjoying people who enjoy her food. She was inspired by her grandmother, who taught her to create businesses that people will always need.
For Bernita, that sweet spot between a needed business that she was 100% about was cooking: relaxing pastime that always brought her joy. Bernita’s first experience with cooking was learning about elbow grease into every meal. There was no equipment or kitchen machinery. Everything was handmade. That hand-making is still where the flavor and soul enter the food. Every meal was fresh and not canned: No commodities and going out was a rarity. This led Bernita to the realization that her peace in the kitchen. Now she's that peace with the DFW community through Nita B's Soul Food & Catering: A modern take on old soul.
